Standard obstetric care includes:

  • 10-minute consultation checks for medical checks, information and planning of follow-up appointments
  • An average of 13 checks during the pregnancy
  • Three standard ultrasounds at 10, 13, and 20 weeks of pregnancy, with additional ultrasounds if medically necessary
  • Assistance with home or outpatient deliveries
  • Three maternity visits in the first week after delivery
  • A follow-up check six weeks after delivery, for mothers who gave birth at home or in an outpatient setting

Obstetric care by Midwives Lelystad offers extras such as:

  • Language support for international clients: English, German, Italian and Spanish
  • Obstetric patient information available in 22 languages 
  • Longer consultation hours of 20 – 30 minutes, including extensive conversations and medical checks, without this compromising your time with the midwife
  • If desired, assistance with registering for maternity care
  • An increase to an average of 15 checks, plus the option for additional checks as needed
  • An extra early ultrasound at 7 weeks, offered free of charge, in addition to the standard ultrasounds and 4 extra growth ultrasounds with our pampering package, also without medical indication
  • Extensive childbirth support options, including some medical situations normally handled by the hospital
  • Four maternity visits, for even more support at home after the birth
  • Follow-up check after six weeks, regardless of the type of delivery
  • A consultation regarding the desire to have children for future pregnancy planning
  • The option to chat with your midwife for questions and advice

Since the beginning of my pregnancy I have received the sweetest and best care from the ladies at Verloskundige Dronten. At the beginning of my pregnancy I had many concerns about the health of my baby and I was always allowed to come by after a phone call to listen to the heartbeat, which gave me peace of mind. In a short time there were a number of new colleagues, which took some getting used to, nevertheless the care was just as warm. I was nervous about who would be present at the birth, but because I ultimately had a medical birth, unfortunately no midwife from the practice could be present. I would like to sincerely thank all the ladies for all the care and love and in particular Sanne who has been very involved since the beginning of my pregnancy and has always done her best in various situations. Also Anna, who went with me to the hospital until the last moment and gave me a sense of peace before the hospital took over the birth. I am now in my maternity week and can still speak positively about Verloskundigen Dronten, the aftercare is good and they always listen when my maternity nurse or I call with a question. Thank you ladies!

The new team of Verloskundigen Dronten is fantastic! They are all super fun and friendly girls. Compared to the other midwifery practice where I was before, I have experienced that young midwives are aware of recent studies. I have been told things that I was never told before, which has made my pregnancy and delivery better.

Very nice practice, I could call with all my questions. Committed midwives who are genuinely interested. Never had to tell my story twice; the midwives were well informed and knew me well. That is exactly why we chose this practice; small, committed, personal and family feeling. The practice owner even came by on her day off, because we were (fortunately unnecessarily) worried. I can definitely recommend the practice!

I had a very nice maternity week, partly thanks to the Dronten midwives. I was under medical care throughout my pregnancy, but despite that I was called every 3 weeks to ask how I was doing. They also offered a listening ear during the maternity week and when I indicated that things were not going well, they immediately took action and even came by again. The contract went very smoothly and through the various organized information evenings and centering meetings, you were not only guided individually during your pregnancy, but you also came into contact with "fellow sufferers" and were able to share your experiences with each other.

During the pregnancy I received very good guidance from all the midwives involved. At the end of March I gave birth under the supervision of Jasmijn and Sanne. They listened carefully to the wishes. By communicating well beforehand and during the entire pregnancy, I have a very pleasant feeling about the practice, and I also experienced the aftercare as pleasant during the maternity week. The communicative care of the assistants in particular is very good. They will assist you in a friendly manner during every process. If you have any questions in the meantime, they will do everything they can to help you!

March last year I visited these midwives for the first time. After a sweet phone call from Judith, an appointment was made for the first ultrasound. Unfortunately I already had one before then miscarriage. I was then very well guided and also received tips to try again. Since August last year I have been seeing these midwives again. I am now almost 34 weeks pregnant and despite all the unpleasant things I have experienced, I feel strong because of all the ladies at this practice. I find the upcoming birth very exciting, but I trust that everything will go well under the guidance of one of the midwives.
