Check-ups during your pregnancy

Pregnant

This is an exciting and special time in your life, full of new adventures and challenges. Maybe you even have to get used to the idea? That's not crazy at all. Bee Midwives Lelystad we are excited to guide you through this wonderful journey, from the very first signs of your pregnancy to the welcome of your precious child. We not only offer professional care, but also a warm, personal approach. Below you will find information about the frequency of check-ups during your pregnancy.

Early Echo at 7 weeks

As soon as you have discovered that you are pregnant, you are welcome for an early ultrasound scan at 7 weeks. This special ultrasound gives you the very first glimpse of your growing baby and can provide a lot of reassurance. Normally you will only receive an ultrasound from the insurer at 10 weeks of pregnancy, but we would like to offer you the opportunity to come earlier. We will reimburse the costs for the early ultrasound.

First check at 10 weeks - Term ultrasound and intake interview

An ultrasound scan is made at 10 weeks to determine the duration of your pregnancy. During this appointment, an intake interview will also take place in which various topics, such as your medical history, previous pregnancies and family-related matters, will be discussed.

Purpose of the first check

The goal is to get a thorough picture of your health and that of your baby and to plan the management of your pregnancy.

Standard Controls

During regular appointments we measure your blood pressure and assess your blood pressure growth of the baby By examining your abdomen we listen to the baby's heartbeat, which is possible from 12 weeks of pregnancy. If this is not your first pregnancy, you can always take your older children with you. We enjoy explaining what we do during the inspection and children are often curious to watch.

Check-ups up to 24 weeks

From the first check-up, you will come to us for check-ups every 4 weeks until 24 weeks of pregnancy. During these moments we measure your blood pressure, assess the baby's growth and listen to the heartbeat. These checks are intended to monitor the health of you and your baby and to identify any complications early.

Check-ups between 24 and 30 weeks

From 24 weeks onwards you will have a check-up every 3 weeks. These appointments are similar to the previous ones, but now more attention is paid to preparation for childbirth. The goal is to prepare you as best as possible for the upcoming birth and to closely monitor the health of you and your baby.

Check-ups from 30 to 36 weeks

From 30 weeks onwards you will have a check-up every 2 weeks. The focus is now increasingly on the impending birth.

Check-ups from 36 weeks until delivery

From 36 weeks onwards you will have weekly check-ups until the birth starts or until you are taken over by the hospital at 42 weeks if you have not yet given birth. This final series of appointments is crucial for monitoring signs of labor and ensuring that both you, the mother and the baby are ready for the big day.

Echoes

As standard, you will be offered the following ultrasounds during pregnancy: an early ultrasound at 7 weeks, a term ultrasound at 10 weeks to determine the duration of your pregnancy and two medical ultrasounds at 13 and 20 weeks (not mandatory). Although an ultrasound is not performed at every appointment, there are situations when it is done, for example if the baby's growth appears to be unusual.

Medical ultrasound at 13 and 20 weeks

You can have a medical ultrasound made around the 13th and 20th week. This extensive ultrasound examines whether any major physical abnormalities are visible in the baby. It is of course not an obligation.

Fun ultrasound

In addition to the medical ultrasounds, fun ultrasounds are also available. With a fun ultrasound you can 'cheat' at any time. So even if you choose not to have a medical ultrasound, you can always go for a fun ultrasound (at your own expense).
