In the first 20 weeks, your belly slowly grows a little more every week. You will experience few complaints about this. After the 20e week your belly grows a lot faster. This is because your uterus, in which the baby is growing, suddenly becomes a lot bigger. This causes the ligaments around your uterus to stretch more. Because ligaments stretch, you may experience painful stitches. We call this ligament pain.
Where do you feel ligament pain?
You can feel the stabbing pain in your lower back, vagina, the bone above the vagina (pubic bone), groin or labia.
Advice
Standing straight
It is a logical response to the pain if you want to relieve your stomach and, for example, lean over the couch with your stomach. However, this is counterproductive, because the weight of your abdomen now hangs further forward, causing your ligaments around the uterus to absorb the weight more. It is therefore better to ensure that you stand upright and try to tighten your abdominal muscles, so that your ligaments have to absorb less force.
Heat
Research has shown that heat can help with pain because it helps your ligaments relax. So if you have ligament pain, lie on the couch and hold a hot water bottle against the painful area. You will notice that the pain decreases within 30 minutes.
Peace!
Ligament pain gets worse if you don't get enough rest. Are you experiencing ligament pain? Then rest for an hour every day. You don't have to sleep, it's also fine if you lie down on the couch.
Avoid heavy lifting
It is not recommended to lift heavy loads during pregnancy, as this puts even more strain on your ligaments. Have someone else lift heavy groceries or possibly other children.
Getting up/getting up
If you have been lying on the couch or in bed and want to get up again, it is important that you first on your side lie down before you get up. Then push yourself up with your hand on the bench. So make sure you don't get up without hands, as this will put too much strain on your abdominal muscles.
Urinate on time
Make sure you don't hold your urine for too long, because a full bladder creates extra pressure in your abdomen. This can make ligament pain worse.
Orgasm
If you suffer from ligament pain, an orgasm can cause an extra painful stomach. If this bothers you a lot, it is wise to be a little more careful.
